Little Fires Everywhere is a spectacular title for Celeste Ng’s latest novel, as she carries that imagery throughout the story. Set mostly in Shaker Heights, Ohio, an affluent suburb of Cleveland during the mid-1990s, we meet the Richardson family (mother Elena and children Lexie, Trip, Moody, and Izzy) and the Warrens (Mia and her daughter Pearl). Artist Mia and Pearl have always lived a transient existence and have kept mostly to themselves.

Seraphina is half-dragon, and in a kingdom of deep mistrust between humans and dragons despite the peace treaty, she is in constant danger as a musician of the royal court. But when a member of the royal family is murdered and all clues points to the dragons, she discovers, along with the prince and a guard, hints of a plot to destroy the already fragile peace.

This is one of the most unique dragon books you'll ever read. This book was so lovely and charming. I loved the characters and the world building, the story was touching and the main character relatable and believable....

I’m not sure Ellison’s family drama with its slow reveal shouldn’t be called A Series of Significant Indiscretions, as there are so many. Both past and present. The true title, A Small Indiscretion, leads a reader to believe that our protagonist, Annie Black’s happiness is at risk by the revelation of a past mistake.

In the vein of Laura Moriarity’s The Rest of Her Life or Chris Bojhalian’s The Buffalo Soldier, Hilderbrand puts normal, everyday people under a microscope after throwing a terrible tragedy at them.
