All sixteen-year-old Siria has ever known is darkness. Years ago, the esteemed Queen Iyzabel veiled the kingdom of Terra-Volat in it because the light was too dangerous, becoming a hero to the people. Black hair and pale skin became the popular fashion, and even a slight curiosity in the old days of light is illegal. But Siria, with her flaming red hair and fascination with the sun, has always been considered an oddity, much to the dismay of her parents. To make them proud, she attends the Choosing Ball, a chance to win a spot in the Queen’s court, but there she discovers something horrifying

Kitty Doe has just turned seventeen and has to take a test that will decide her rank in society for the rest of her life. Kitty is hoping that she will get an IV on the test. Even though she is intelligent, she still only receives a III. Now Kitty has to spend her life poor and with an awful job. That is until she gets an offer to become a VII.

This book was good. I would recommend it to a friend. I think that the book is like a mix between The Selection and The Giver. The book was a fast read. This book that I would read again. Even though the book was enjoyable, Pawn was like most

This historical fiction book written by Jennifer A. Nielsen is an engrossing and suspenseful novel with crazy plot twists and diverse characters. Chaya (the main character) is a resistance fighter against the Nazis. She teams up with a girl she despises at first and quickly learns to love her like a sister. They move from ghetto to ghetto, trying to help their people fight.

This book discusses the struggles the Jews had to face in the hands of their enemy. This book has made me realize what true courage and strength is. The most appealing aspect of this book is when Chaya reunites with a

Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Origin, the fourth book in the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, is somehow better than the series’ previous novels. After a failed attempt to raid Mount Weather and make it out in one piece, Katy is stuck behind enemy lines, and Daemon will do anything to get her back, even join her. While held by Dedalus, Katy, Daemon, and friends will uncover new secrets that will change everything.

This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Katy and Daemon’s dual POVs absolutely filled Origin with tension and emotion, and Armentrout’s ending left a lot of new questions to be answered.

The moment I read the first chapter of Star Wars Lost Stars I knew it was going to be one of my favorite books. When you read the first chapter, not only do you get to know the two main character’s backstories but also how they came into their passion for flying ships. Ciena and Thane are two different people. One from the rich folk and another from the valleys. They were best friends for many years and even went to the same Imperial academy together. Throughout the book you start to see the characters change in either massive or short ways. Thane has different opinions about the Empire and

Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins, is the final novel in The Hunger Games trilogy. After being rescued from the Quarter Quell, Katniss must adapt to life in District Thirteen while mourning the loss of Peeta. Katniss, forced to be the face of a revolution that she does not lead, suddenly finds herself in the middle of political chaos as the rebels of District Thirteen aim to overthrow the Capitol.

This book was great in some places but boring in others; while it was filled with twists  and turns, especially near the end, it was pretty slow in the middle. I enjoyed how Collins chose to end her

Reboot by Amy Tintera

Reboot is truly an amazing story put together by the magical hands of Amy Tintera. There is nothing I love more than settling in on my couch and reading books for hours. A mix of drama, love, action, this book will certainly draw your eye. This book is rated 6th grade and above.

“One day I died. 178 minutes later I woke up. The more minutes you’ve been dead before you got rebooted, the more robotic and stronger you are but everything comes with a price: you get very un-human like. I am a 178 I don’t feel emotion. I am Wren, the highest number in my reboot camp or prison, and am an agile
