The Illuminae Files Trilogy is like no trilogy you've experienced before. Stylistically it stands apart as the story unfolds via a dossier of compiled e-mails, video recordings, military documents, interviews, maps and medical reports that all combine to make for a heady mix of intrigue, political drama, romance, and space opera. In Illuminae, the first in the trilogy, Kady Grant's colony, Kerenza, is attacked by an unknown enemy. Kady manages to escape aboard one of the three remaining spaceships, but her problems have only just begun. The enemy is hot on their tail, a mysterious illness breaks out on one of the ships, and the shipboard artificial intelligence system (AIDAN) has gone rogue. The stakes are high and only increase as the series progresses, with each book better than the last. That is saying something given that Illuminae received starred reviews from Booklist, Kirkus and Publishers Weekly, the trifecta of top reviewers. The Illuminae Files offers a stellar cast of characters you'll come to really care about, the world building is dynamic and deep, and the pacing is edge-of-your-seat. While the series is technically called "Teen", as an avid fan of adult science fiction, I can say with the utmost confidence, that the series will appeal to teen and adult science fiction fans alike! Check out the book trailer for the first in the series here and meet the two masterminds behind the saga in this interview! Happy reading!
