A Fool's Gold Christmas by Susan Mallery

Feb 8, 2013

When a serious injury sends Evie Stryker to Fool’s Gold where her estranged brothers and mother have made their home, Evie finds herself at a crossroads.  Evie left Fool’s Gold, and the family where she never seemed to fit in, at the age of 17 to study dance at Julliard and she never looked back.  Then Evie was injured and her mother and brothers moved her to Fool’s Gold for her recovery and rehabilitation.  Now, as recovered as she is going to be, Evie is chafing at the close quarters to her family in the small California town where everyone knows everyone.  She has taken a job at the local dance studio teaching young girls the basics of dance,  resigned to spending  at least a year in Fool’s Gold building up her bank account and figuring out her next step in life.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Evie is dismayed to find that her boss has run off to get married, leaving Evie with the job of producing the Fool’s Gold Christmas pageant during the town’s winter festival.  Evie finds no script and no notes, just the expectation of her students and the town that the pageant will go on as usual.  Not to mention that the hot attorney Dante Jefferson in the office below the dance studio, who of course is her brother’s best friend, is complaining about the noise of the clog dancers.

As Dante and Evie get to know each other and bond together as Scrooges in the Fool’s Gold hotbed of holiday activities, they both have an opportunity to experience the Christmas spirit.  Evie and her family are able to set past hurts aside and start rebuilding their family relationships.  Evie and Dante also find that they can’t let the past dictate the future, and what starts as a “friends with benefits” arrangement becomes something much deeper.

Don’t miss A Fool’s Gold Christmas, the 10th installment in Susan Mallery’s Fool’s Gold series.
