A Deeper Darkness by J. T. Ellison

Aug 12, 2013

One of my favorite things about working in a library is discovering new authors, or at least new to me authors.  J. T. Ellison is the author of the Taylor Jackson series which focuses on the cases of Nashville Homicide Detective Taylor Jackson.

In A Deeper Darkness, Ellison turns her attention to Taylor’s friend and medical examiner, Samantha Owens. Two years ago, Sam lost her husband and children in a flood and is struggling to move on. Sam has received a call from a former boyfriend’s mother. Eddie Donovan has died under suspicious circumstances and his mother would like Sam to perform a second autopsy. Leaving Nashville, Sam heads to DC and becomes involved in the investigation of Eddie’s death.

Part mystery, part thriller with some forensics thrown in, A Deeper Darkness is an enjoyable read if you are looking to try out a new author. A Deeper Darkness and the follow-up, Edge of Black, are both available in print as well as ebook.

Reading in the car makes me dizzy, but some books are worth it.
