Christopher John Francis Boone, age fifteen, lives in England and has autism. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is the story of how his neighbor’s dog died and what happened to Christopher’s parent’s relationship. Through Christopher’s eyes the reader experiences the world as Christopher does. Christopher likes his world to be neat, orderly, routine and predictable. As Christopher works to solve the mystery of who killed the neighbor’s dog he discovers a secret that his father has been keeping from him. As Christopher faces the deception by his father the reader is able to see how Christopher processes information and the feelings that the betrayal bring to the surface. Christopher faces many of his fears as he journeys alone into unfamiliar places to find his mother in an attempt to understand his family’s situation. He is truly courageous in his search for the truth and in how he faces his fears.
