Critical Care by Candace Calvert

Jun 23, 2011

Critical Care by Candace Calvert is a great alternative to ER, House and Grey's Anatomy.  Claire Avery, former emergency room nurse, is now the nurse educator at Mercy General Hospital.  Claire no longer feels able to work in the ER after being on duty when her firefighter brother was brought into the ER with fatal injuries.  Hence, her new job as nurse educator.  On her first day at Mercy General the ER is dealing with the littlest victims of a nursery school fire and Claire's job is to assess the ER staff's ability to handle the stress of dealing with the tragedy.

On her way to the ER Claire bumps into ER attending Logan Caldwell, otherwise known as "McSnarly" by the staff for his surly and demanding attitude in the ER.  Dr. Caldwell  doesn't believe in the value of the counseling that Claire is there to provide for the ER staff.

As Claire and Logan get to know each other and work through the crisis counseling recommended for the ER team, they also begin to explore a possible relationship with each other.  Those who enjoyed Dee Henderson's "O'Malley" series will also enjoy Critical Care by Candace Calvert.
