Dr Junger is certified in internal medicine and cardiology and practices in New York City. He has also studied Eastern medicine in India and is currently director of integrative medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. After experiencing a variety of health issues himself and trying different options, Dr Junger tried a detox program and found his symptoms eliminated. He pursued the study of Functional Medicine and started including these holistic approaches in the treatment of his patients. This book is the result of what he has found that works. It includes a 3 week detox program which includes eating a normal meal at lunch and liquid meal for breakfast and supper/dinner, eliminating problem foods from the diet, and getting adequate rest, sleep, exercise and practicing meditation.

I found the book easy to read; the scientific basis for the detox program is clearly explained. There are recipes included and the entire detox plan. I would recommend the book to anyone who is experiencing health issues such as allergies, restless sleep, irritable bowel, depression, anxiety, fatigue. The detox system can alleviate these and many other conditions.
