Looking for a feel-good movie? Babies is a must-see documentary. Watch as four newborn babies from around the globe grow, learn, and love during their first year of life on this planet.

Each baby is born into a world full of different customs and opportunities, yet their universal humanity busts through cultural boundaries. Follow Ponijao from Namibia, Bayarjargal from Mongolia, Hattie from San Francisco, and Mari from Tokyo as each baby navigates his or her place in the world.

Whether it’s Ponijao sitting in the dirt pounding stones with his friend, Bayarjargal sharing his bathwater with thirsty livestock, Hattie being hauled around by her daddy to enriching storytimes, or Mari snuggling with a pet cat as she takes in the noise and excitement of city life outside the window behind her, each baby is surrounded by love and comfort. What is seen as nonconforming child-rearing to many Americans becomes refreshing alternatives to our hyper-sterile, materialistic environment. We see that no matter what culture a baby comes from, there are many ways to raise healthy, happy babies.

This is my go-to movie for getting over a grumpy mood. It’s a great choice for parents to watch with their curious kids who are comfortable with some non-sexual nudity. Highly recommended for nervous first-time parents, or anyone who needs a reminder of the blessings of life.
