Angel With Two Faces by Nicole Upson

Mar 2, 2011

A good, old-fashioned style murder mystery, Angel with Two Faces is set in mid-1930s Cornwall, England. A noted playwright and mystery writer, Josephine Tey (fictionalized),arrives for a peaceful working vacation, only to be caught up in the turmoil created by the suicide of a young man with much to live for.
Lots of descriptions in this work-- of scenery, buildings, and characters. And there is a very large cast of characters, each with his or her own special story to contribute, deserving some careful, leisurely involvement by the reader. But events start spiraling fast once all the people pieces have been set out, and the vacationing detectives (Ms Tey and her fictional host, Scotland Yard investigator, Archie Penrose) put them all together just in time...almost.
Note -- the Penrose Estate featured by Ms. Upson is real. It's one of the properties belonging to England's National Trust.
