Delirium by Lauren Oliver follows Lena, a soon to be eighteen year old teenage girl. In Lena’s

world love is seen as dangerous and unpredictable, it causes havoc and apparently eventually

ends in death. Love is seen as a disease. To prevent people from catching this disease

everyone must have a surgery that cures them from it when they turn eighteen. In Lena's case

she believes that love is dangerous and can't wait for her surgery so she can finally be cured
