Wow. Just… wow. We Deserve Monuments is a debut novel. But you wouldn’t be able to tell. It’s just that well written. A beautiful, heart-wrenching coming of age story, Jas Hammonds wove a tale of generational trauma, love, racism, homophobia, and what really matters. This was recommended to me by Goodreads because I read Pet (by Akwaeke Emezi), and I at first marked it as TBR because of the cover. Then, I read the premise. It was at this moment that it became an instant read for me. I was not disappointed.

From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout is the first book in the Blood and Ash series. Poppy, a maiden who was chosen from birth, never got to control her life. She’s hidden from the world, and has to wear a veil to cover her face. Even though the kingdom’s future depends on Poppy’s Ascension, she would rather be with the guards and fight the evil lurking in the kingdom than to be found worthy by the Gods. As unexpected things start occuring, she starts losing those she holds dear.

Maas's Crescent City series, a thrilling urban fantasy novel that follows the story of Bryce Quinlan, a half-human, half-fae party girl living in the bustling city of Crescent City. Hatchet by Gary Paulson is a novel about a survival story about a 13 year old boy, Brian, who finds himself alone in the Canadian wilderness. His only tool is a hatchet.
This is a book of experiments and survival. I would rate this book 3 out of 5, and would recommend it to people who like survival stories. This book was a great book to connect to the outdoor wilderness. This gave me memories of camping, and many possible survival tips!
The Secret Life of Pets by Chris Renaud is about Max (a dog) that has and enjoys his comfortable life in NY, until his owner adopts Duke - a giant dog. They encounter cats during a walk outside, and use the help of a bunny named Snowball. They work together on a mission.
Race the Wild - Mountain Mission by Kristin Earhart is about a team climbing to a new level. The end of a race leads a team to the Himalayas, a treacherous mountain range in the world. A rockslide threatens Russell and his time, and decides if they need to go on a rescue mission or win a race.
Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper is a novel about a girl, Melody Brooks, diagnosed with a disability. She gets integrated in classes with other kids, and overcomes her disability. She gets to play a team quiz, and sees the judgmental perspective of other kids around her.
