The rest of the 90% are called proles and live in poverty.

Stick Dog(#1) is the first book in the series Stick Dog, which is about 5 stray dogs who go on interesting missions to find food to eat. There are five dogs: Karen, Mutt, Poo-poo, Stripes and Stick-Dog. In this book, the dogs are relaxing in the suburbs of a big city when they smell hamburgers coming from the park. When they go to investigate, Poo-poo gets distracted by a squirrel, his arch-nemesis, and tries to figure out ways to attack the squirrel. Stick-dog helps him focus again.

In Milton, Margaret discovers a very different way of life. She's shocked by the harsh working conditions in the cotton mills and the divide between the wealthy mill owners and poor workers.
