After all the chaos of last summer, Percy finally gets a chance to be a normal middle school kid--at least, he can pretend he does. Along the way, Percy also discovers that one of normal human friends isn’t as normal as he may seem. Suddenly, while playing dodgeball, monsters appear and threaten Percy’s life. Annabeth comes to his rescue just in time, and they both make their way back to Camp Half-Blood only to find out that it is in trouble. Thalia’s tree, the one that holds the spirit of Zeus’ daughter, is ill.

This exciting, fast-paced, book is one that is very violent but somehow still very romantic. This book is centered around an assassin Shin Lina, who is the last remaining member of her Talons gang. She now works for Konrarnd Kalmin, the leader of her rival gang, the Blackbloods, in order to protect her little sister. After stealing and ruining the tapestry of an immortal Dokkaebi, Lina faces serious problems. The Dokkaebi she stole from was none other than the emperor of the Dokkaebi, and now the emperor is looking for revenge.

After almost a full year of staying at the Hawthorne Estate, it turns out, almost nothing is what it seems. Toby, who hasn’t made an appearance in months, suddenly shows up. Eve does too, coming back into the picture and perhaps doing so intentionally as to pursue her goal. Main character Avery Grambs persists in solving Tobias Hawthorne’s puzzles, but her journey doesn’t end there. She finds that it all will come down to a chess game (and her wits).

Mockingjay is the final book in the trilogy called The Hunger Games. It shows Katniss’s capability when it came to looking out for an entire nation rather than just herself. She becomes the symbol of the rebellion, providing a way for the districts to fight back. Katniss sacrifices her life for the future of the districts. She allows a chance for victims of the capitol to speak up. This revolutionary period happens over the course of this book.
