The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is a story about Liesel Hubermann, a girl growing up with foster parents in Nazi Germany. Being narrated by Death itself, it reads from a different perspective. Liesel steals books from various places and learns how to read. She finds a sense of comfort tangled between words and uses it as her escape from the distressing time she resided in. Liesel also becomes really good friends with Rudy, who is a boy in her neighborhood.

Deka, the Nuru, has released the Gilded Ones and is leading conquests to make Otera one again. She wants to reach Hemaira and get all the other alaki while defeating the Jatu to reclaim Otera. However, when they realize that the jatu are now able to become deathshrieks, her plans are changed. Then she decides to go kill the leader of the jatu and gain more order but she soon learns that the Gilded Ones are not the only gods but that there are others, the Merciless Ones, as well.

She’s Gone by David Bell is a young-adult mystery thriller novel about Hunter Gifford who wakes up in the hospital and finds out that he and his girlfriend, Chloe, were in a car accident. He soon finds out that Chloe’s blood was found in his car but she’s nowhere to be found. Hunter can’t remember anything about the crash or what happened that day. Back at school, everyone blames him for Chloe’s disappearance and accuses him of murder.

Five Survive by Holly Jackson is a mystery novel about 6 friends going on a road trip together. The night takes a turn when their RV breaks down in an isolated place with no cell phone reception or anyone near to help. After weird things start happening, the friends find out that it wasn’t just an accident, but that someone’s targeting them in the shadows. Little do they know that not all of them will survive the night, and that one of them has a secret that the murderer would kill for.

Miles Halter, a fairly normal teenager that memorizes last words, is living a fairly normal life at his high school in Florida. However, after reading François Rabelais' last words "I go to seek a great perhaps", Miles decides it's time for him to seek his own great perhaps outside of Florida. At a private school in Alabama he meets a new friend called The Colonel and a gorgeous girl named Alaska, and finds his great perhaps. After a few months though, Alaska doesn't seem to be who Miles thought she was.

All the Bright Places is a novel by Jennifer Niven. Theodore Finch is captivated by the idea of death, while Violet Markey yearns to graduate high school and begin college in order to get away from her sister’s death. Finch and Violet first cross each other’s paths on a bell tower at school. Finch saves Violet’s life, which sparks an unexpected friendship. The two become partners for their history project, which asks the students to explore their home state of Indiana.

In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of British schoolboys gets stranded on an island after a plane crash. These boys must learn how to survive in the wilderness without any adult supervision. Ralph, Piggy, Jack, and Simon are the main characters in the novel. Ralph is the protagonist and the chief of the tribe they had managed to create. Piggy is the intelligent one but also gets bullied by the other boys. Jack, the antagonist, had made himself the group's hunter along with his choir boys.

In Where She Went by Gayle Forman we follow Adam after the events of If I Stay. Now a wildly popular lead singer of a famous band Adam feels empty. He hasn’t been with Mia since she went to Juliard but he still has trouble coping without her. When Adam has a free night in New York he sees a poster showing that Mia is playing at Carnigie Hall. After she was brought up in an interview earlier he decides to go see her.

This exciting, creative novel is centered around a girl named Abeni who lives in a pretty secluded village in the forest with her family & community. On the morning of her birthday, she wakes up excited for the Harvest festival that will take place, unknowing of the real events that will take place. Everything is normal at first till the witch enters the village, bringing terrible news of a great danger that they would soon face. Following this, Abeni witnesses her friends, family, and community getting taken away by horrible “storm women” and a man with goat-fur clothing.
