People We Meet on Vacation is a heartwarming and emotional friends-to-lovers romance that is about two best friends, Poppy and Alex, who have known each other for 12 years. Poppy and Alex are complete opposites: Poppy is adventurous and wild, while Alex is introverted and likes a routine. Despite their differences, they’ve been inseparable because they have a tradition: every summer, they take a vacation together. The story goes back and forth between past and present times. In the past, we see clips of each of their yearly vacations and the slow development of their deep connection. These snippets are filled with cute banter, adventures and chemistry that neither of them wants to acknowledge because they don’t want to ruin their friendship. In the present, Poppy feels stuck. She realizes the last time she was happy was on her last trip with Alex, before everything between them fell apart. She is desperate to fix things, so she convinces Alex to go on one last vacation together.

I loved reading this book because it is an emotional romance that has a lot of humor. I love how the author balances lightheartedness and depth, creating a story that is both playful and interesting. The dynamic of the two characters is amazing; they tease each other, support each other and care for each other. What makes this book interesting is that it portrays a realistic romance. I also love how there is a focus on their chemistry, but their emotions are what carry the story. Overall, this is a beautiful story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance books and humor because it is an amazing combination of the two.
