Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn follows a married couple living in Missouri into a world of darkness and terror when Nick’s wife, Amy, suddenly disappears. When Amy does not show up for a couple of days, police begin to suspect that Nick caused the murder. Within the book, told from Nick's perspective, a few excerpts from Amy’s diary appear, which reveal the truth about her marriage with Nick. Nick continues to deny that he instigated the disappearance of his wife, but the police do not know if they should trust him after finding maxed out credit card bills, clues that make the scene in the living room look staged, and blood on the kitchen floor.

I loved reading Gone Girl because of the complex plot that Gillian Flynn created. The tiny details from the beginning of the book played a huge role towards the case, which made the book exciting to read. I do not know if I like how each chapter switched between the perspective of Nick and Amy because it made the book really confusing to read, but in some ways fun. Gillian Flynn did an amazing job creating plot twists that readers could never see coming, which can make someone never stop reading the book. I found myself almost spending hours reading this book at a time because of how deep I fell into the book. I would recommend this book to someone who loves reading books with a complex plot and like murder mystery. The book cover also summarizes the book well.
