Evil Spy School is only the 3rd installment of the Spy School series, but this book is so amazing. It goes into detail so much, it makes you feel as if you are actually in the Spy School! Another reason I love this book is that the characters in the book are so amazing and all have their own personality, and aren’t just irrelevant.
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes is a poignant romance novel that explores the transformative relationship between Louisa Clark, a quirky and small-town woman, and Will Traynor, a wealthy and successful man who becomes a quadriplegic after a motorcycle accident. Louisa, hired as Will's caregiver, initially struggles with his bitterness and desire to end his life through assisted suicide.
Anthem is an intriguing story that supports the idea of individualism. This story takes you through the life of a rebellious character living in a dystopian future society. This society is restricted and limited to an uncountable list of laws and regulations. Upon seeing how free they could truly be and what the world was actually like, the character felt a sense of happiness and joy, but also betrayal as they had been lied to.
Ski Spy School is the 4th inclusion to the Spy School series by Stuart Gibbs. Let me just start off by saying that this book is a story that checks off all the genres: thriller, mystery, romance, action, you name it! The tale also is very unpredictable, and many different things can go haywire in the blink of an eye.
The Crucible is an incredible play following the Salem Witch Trials. It follows the experiences of the accused and the accusers during the trials. It draws implicit comparisons to other witchhunts seen throughout history, such as McCarthyism. Miller expertly draws these comparisons without saying anything explicitly. Characters such as Abigail, Reverend Hale, and John Proctor create an engaging cast. Anybody with a love of theater and history should read this masterpiece of a play.
The Stage Actor’s Handbook covers many things that young actors need to know. It goes through the etiquette of acting, including how to treat fellow actors, stage managers, and directors well. It gives examples of poor and good etiquette. It makes sense of many of the weird traditions that people new to acting don’t understand. The Medici is an amazing story of the banking family that ruled the Renaissance. It follows the occasionally mafia-like experiences of the ruling families in Italy during the Renaissance. It explains how one of the most influential families in history faded away from history completely. Paul Strathern perfectly weaves narrative stories and facts together to provide an engaging story of power, money, and art. For anybody with any interest in history, art, or finance, this book is key.
George Takei’s graphic novel They Called Us Enemy is an interesting story of the racial injustices suffered by Japanese-Americans during World War II. It follows Takei’s family as they suffer the effects of Pearl Harbor, the fear of Japanese spying, and the movement of Japanese-Americans into internment camps. Takei frames the story incredibly well and is an incredible book everybody should read. It shines a deep, reflective light on the dangers of widespread fear and paranoia.
Spy Camp is the 2nd addition to the Spy School series, and this book is amazing! One of the many reasons I love the book is because the tables can turn so quickly, and something you might never had suspected to happen, would happen. This book is also so enjoyable to read because sometimes the book will foreshadow, and will drop hints in the book, allowing you to also act like you really are an actual spy, and solve this whimsical mystery.
The book Spy School is the start to an amazing series, where action and mystery meet spies! This book is one of my favorite books ever, and just one of the reasons is because it is very well plotted out, and always seems to have you biting on your nails at the end of every page! The character personalities in this book also have lots of depth, along with new characters getting added to the story along the way. This book is a must read for action or mystery lovers!
