The Secret History is a captivating novel that blends elements of psychological thriller, school drama, and Greek tragedy. The novel begins with Richard Papen, a working-class student from California, who transfers to Hampden College in Vermont. There, he becomes fascinated by an exclusive group of five Classics students led by their professor, Julian Morrow. Together with her cousins Johnny and Mirren, plus family friend Gat, the four teens form a group self-proclaimed as “the liars”. The reader learns that the Sinclairs aren’t quite as perfect as they seem, with Cady’s mother and aunts obsessed with money and a grandfather obsessed with power, leading to multigenerational family drama that keeps the novel engaging and relatable to many readers.

When the Builders created an underground living environment for the people, all seemed well. Until the storerooms started running out of food and corruption began to erupt. But when Lina and Doon found an ancient parchment, they wanted to find a way out of Ember. But will they be able to leave the city? I love this book because of its thrill. This book has a lot of twists and turns which make it really fun.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson has become one of my favorite books I’ve ever read; in fact, I would without hesitation put it on my “top 7” list. You may have heard of this novel from the TV show created recently. If you do plan to watch the show, I highly recommend you read this book first as the show tends to rush through some crucial parts of the entire plot. This murder mystery follows the life of a 17-year-old girl, Pip, who uncovers the mysterious past of her hometown.
