Shirin is a teenage Muslim girl who wants to live a normal high school life. But ever since 9/11, things have been different for her, especially at school. She’s tired of the stereotypes, the rude questions and having to shut herself off from everyone. Then she meets Ocean, a guy that wants to get to know her despite her social exclusion.
A friend gave me this book, so I was curious. I feel like the effects of 9/11 in everyday life, especially for Muslim people, is not talked about enough. This book gives insight into Shirin’s struggles with her religion and trying to find her way through high school. And it's also a great romance story that I couldn’t put down.
