Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman is the perfect sequel to Scythe.

It’s been one year since Citra was ordained as a scythe, and one year since Rowan went off the grid. Turning into the legend of Scythe Lucifer, hunting down corrupt scythes, and being hunted by the scythedom, his stories spread fear among the few who know about him. Meanwhile, Honorable Scythe Anastacia gleans with compassion and heart, but a turn of events not only puts her in danger, but also threatens to destroy the entire scythedom. With new enemies and old ones resurfacing, Citra and Rowan must find a way to restore order not only for the divided scythedom, but for the world itself.

This was a truly heart-wrecking book. I love how we are introduced to new characters and even the Thunderhead’s perspective. We also get a deeper understanding of the Tonist community, which I was longing for. The beginning might have been a bit slow, but as it went along, the pace picked up, and the ending left me heartbroken. I can’t get the third and final book in my hands fast enough, it is that good. I would really recommend the series to any sci-fi and Keeper of the Lost Cities lovers.
