Throne of Glass written by Sarah J. Maas is a fantasy novel which begins in the salt mines of Endovier, with the main character Celaena Sardothien. Celaena is an assassin feared throughout the lands of Adarlan. When the Crown Prince of Adarlan, Dorian Havilliard, shows up at Endovier with a deal she is surprised. It's a chance for freedom after being caught and forced to work in the salt mines as punishment. The price of her freedom is winning a competition, and becoming the King's Champion. Who could refuse? After Celaena accepts the deal with Dorian, her life drastically changes. To earn her freedom she must win the competition for King’s Champion, and serve as such for four years. Celaena begins to meet the competitors and plan her victory, but, when a competitor goes missing everyone seems suspicious. Celaena continues to train and learn about who or what is causing the competitors to go missing.

I enjoyed this book because it has good foreshadowing, leading into the next book about what happens after the competition ends and who wins. I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys fantasy with a bit of mystery since you are kept guessing on what is happening to the other competitors, and how the competition will end. I would say this book is 5 stars.
