Big Nate in the Zone by Lincoln Peirce is the sixth book in the Big Nate series, and it takes Nate’s misadventures to a new level. This time, Nate feels like he’s stuck in a rut with a string of bad luck, and things aren’t going his way at school, with friends or in life in general. However, everything changes when he gets his hands on a lucky charm, and suddenly, his fortunes start to turn around.

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead is a paranormal, young adult, Vampire Academy spin-off series. Jill Dragomir is in danger, threatening Lissa’s place as queen. When Jill is sent into hiding, Sydney is assigned to be her protector. Her childhood was defined by the condemnation of Moroi, but now she must live among them. Although I didn’t care for Sydney in the Vampire Academy books, I was hooked on her character by the end of this novel.

“Why did everyone like that story so much when it wasn’t true?  Why was everyone so eager to believe it?  Was it because, in real life, ever after’s generally stink?”
