Jamie, a twelve-year-old girl, grew up in an Army family and has always felt proud and amazed when talking about the Army. Her brother, TJ, goes to Vietnam and she is really excited on his behalf and she tells him to send letters about all his adventures. However, instead TJ sends her pictures that need to be developed, most of them are of the moon while the others show experiences that are different than what she imagined. When her brother’s letters stop coming, Jamie’s beliefs are questioned.

I found this book to be interesting due to the time that this was set in and Jamie’s character. I found Jamie’s a dynamic character most compelling. Her changes throughout the novel showed her character growth and how she started to see the world in a different way. I was disappointed in the length of the book as it is a very short read. This is a good quick read for those who like historical fiction.

Overall, it was a pretty good book and I liked it despite being short it conveyed a lot of emotions. I rate this a 3 out of 5.
