The Selection is the perfect dystopian book if you love high society and competition. If you're looking for an easy read this is it. This book follows the main character American Singer and her journey competing for the crown. Although the names in this book might not be creative the plot pulls you in making you want to read more. By the end of the first book in this trilogy I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second book. Even if The Selection isn’t a literary masterpiece this book is entertaining and held my attention the whole time. This book made me want to start reading in my free time even when I detested reading my entire childhood. There's nothing better than being invested in the characters and this book is no exception. America is conflicted with her feelings for her friend back home and for the prince. And I love nothing more than a small love triangle to keep the reader wanting to know what America does next. And she is anything but predictable. Overall this book makes me so happy while reading that even just thinking about it makes me smile. If you want a book like that, look no further.
