I just finished one of the best series of graphic novels I have ever read, the Scott Pilgrim series. It began when I saw a preview for the upcoming movie and I thought, "gee, that seems interesting." So I checked out the books, I had no idea what I was in for. Although the series starts out a little slow, and it takes a little bit to recognize each character on site (helped by handy name tags every so often), it picks up quickly. It is a non-stop action and romance packed series about the poor, and unemployed Scott Pilgrim. Scott doesn't really have much going for him, he lives with his gay roommate in a tiny rundown apartment, he doesn't have a job and he has just started dating a 17-year-old girl in high school (Scott is 23). But Scott's life changes when he meets the mysterious and gorgeous Ramona Flowers, a girl who changes her hair color almost more than I do.

Ramona has just moved to town and is working as a courier for Amazon.ca (yes this story takes place in Canada). She uses subspace to get from place to place quickly to deliver her packages, and subspace happens to run straight through Scott's head (he isn't really using the space in between his ears anyways). Scott promptly falls for Ramona and ditches his high school girlfriend, only to find out that before he can truly be with Ramona he must defeat her seven evil exes. Scott, who has never really tried for anything in his life, finds himself fighting for the woman he loves against some of the toughest vegans and ninjas you have ever seen!
