Reckless is a romance fantasy novel that is the second book in the Powerless series. Reckless continues the story of Kai Azer and Paedyn Grey. It follows Paedyn as she escapes Ilya through the scorches alone. Meanwhile, Kai has to swear loyalty to his brother, Kitt. Kai’s first mission as the new enforcer is to find and bring Paedyn back to Ilya to inevitably be killed. Kai is in danger beyond Ilya though. Many of the ordinary cities are still outraged by how Ilya turned their back on them when Ilya wanted to be an “elite” only city. I loved this book and thought that it was a great continuation to the series. I did enjoy the first book a lot more but the second is still pretty good. The ending is so suspenseful and ends on a cliff hanger. My favorite character is Paedyn and many of the people in the resistance. I would recommend this book to late middle and high school readers.
