Based on the true events of a trial in Hungary in 1882, a girl named Julie learns that her friend has gone missing. She watches as the Jews in her town are falsely accused of murdering the servant girl Esther. Julie tries to help make things right by learning the truth despite the odds being against her.

I picked this book up because the title caught my eye, and when I read the description I knew I had to read it. The author does a great job on the exact details in the story, but makes it entertaining by adding Julie as a fictional character. Julie is a strong female character and the author finds a way for her to influence the outcome of the trial. I looked up this particular court trial in 1882, and I was surprised to find that I already knew everything about it from reading the book! This is a great, quick read that teaches you something about history you probably didn't know before.
