Proxy by Alex London is a captivating dystopian young adult novel set in a future society where the privileged few lead luxurious lives while others serve as their proxies, taking the punishment for their wrongdoings. Syd is a poor orphan working as a proxy for the wealthy Knox, taking on the consequences of Knox's reckless behavior. When Knox's latest misstep leads to a deadly accident, Syd finds himself on the run, seeking justice and freedom. The book delves into themes of class disparity, identity, and the struggle for personal agency in a thrilling tale of adventure and self-discovery.

The most compelling aspect for me was the powerful exploration of social inequality and its consequences. The contrast between the lives of the privileged and the struggling proxies was deeply thought-provoking. I couldn't help but empathize with Syd and his fight for justice in a world that seemed rigged against him. There were a few disappointments about how the pacing felt uneven and overall slow. However it was only very minor. I would recommend Proxy to anyone who loves dystopian tales with a touch of adventure and a lot of heart. If you enjoy stories that make you question the society we live in and the choices we make, then you should read this book. This book is like many other famous dystopian books and makes you question and connect society today. I give this book a four out of five.
