Pray for Silence, the sequel to Sworn to Silence, again follows Chief of Police Kate Burkholder in the mixed Amish and “English” town of Painters Mill, Ohio. On a chilly night in October, a family of seven was found murdered on their farm. With little clue to work with, Kate is desperate to catch the murder, even if she has to put herself in danger.
I loved reading this book. After reading the first book in this series, I was nervous if the sequel could live up to my expectations. There are incredible character descriptions and development and every action taken by characters seems completely in character. Pray for Silence exceeded my expectations and is one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. After the first descriptions of the crime scene, the story is perfectly set up and makes it super engaging. This book contains graphic descriptions of crime scenes and deals with more adult topics. I would recommend this book series to anybody interested in crime books with a warning about gory scenes.
