The Outsiders is a book about a 14 year old boy and his 6 friends. They live in an era where two groups are divided by economic and social status. Ponyboy and his friends fall into the “greasers” side, which is the less rich and more tough side. Ponyboy has two brothers, Soda and Darry, and they all hangout with their other friends, Dally, Johnny & Steve. Ponyboy grows close to Johnny but when he commits a crime, their lives all fall down and a series of events that even leads to death happens after.

Ponyboy Curtis, a greaser who goes to school and tries to hang out with his “gang” a lot. Ponyboy grows close to Johnny Cade, a shy greaser that was attacked by Soc’s, The rich side of the two divisions. He has a lot of trauma from this. One day, Johnny Accidentally kills a Soc out of anger when the two were attacked. So, they run away with Dally, but only to see a church on fire. Johnny gets seriously hurt and is on the verge of death. Then, Johnny dies along with Dally as well, and Ponyboy decides to write a English report on it.

The book was great. The compelling aspect was the friendship between the gang and how they always stuck together and took great care of each other. I was very disappointed and sad when Johnny died, and the thoughts I had were always about how the gang was going to escape. I would recommend this book as a book to people who love action and sad books. I rate it a 4.
