The Night Circus tells the story about the magical circus that travels around the world. It has no schedule or warning, it simply appears, stays for a while and performs shows, and then up and leaves. One of the main focuses of the story however, is between two magicians in the circus, Marco and Celia. It is sort of like a Romeo and Juliet situation, their parents hated each other and they were forced to be enemies in the circus, until they fall in love. Another main plot is between a set of twins as they discover their special powers and role in the circus.

The reason I’m only giving this book 3 stars is because I feel like the description on the cover wasn’t very accurate to what actually went on in the book. By the synopsis on the cover, it was my idea that it was going to be mostly an enemies to lovers romance between Celia and Marco. While that was a plot line, it was not nearly as prominent as it was made out to be. There are 3 alternating stories being told in this novel, so the Celia and Marco plot line was only about a third of what was really going on. Not that the other stories were bad, because Morgenstern’s writing is amazingly vivid and descriptive, it was just different than my expectations. Overall, if you are interested in this book, you should definitely read it, especially if you are a fantasy lover. Just take the synopsis with a grain of salt.
