*Spoiler Alert if you haven’t read the first book in the Darkest Minds series*
The sequel to The Darkest Minds was not as bad like I expected it to be after the terrible cliff hanger in the first book. We are brought back into the dystopian world of “The Darkest Minds Series’ where Ruby is working with the Children’s League after taking all of the memories of herself out of Liam’s mind in the previous book. (Like why did she do this? This still infuriates me…). She helps fight against the corrupt government and the camps that the government made with the League, uncovering a ton of dark secrets in the process. A handful of new characters are introduced in this book, but not so much that it’s overwhelming.

I thought that this was a very good 2nd book in the series and a good continuation of the storyline. As for the characters, I wasn’t completely in love with Ruby in this one. She was just very whiny; always feeling sorry for herself/others or hating herself. I knew she was going through a lot during this time, but she needs to be more confident! But, even with these problems, she was still more in control of her abilities compared to the last book and is still fighting for the people she loves. I loved a lot of the new characters introduced in this book (especially Vida & Jude!). This definitely kept me interested in this series and I’m looking forward to reading the final book in this trilogy! I recommend this book to people who have read The Darkest Minds and this series to people who like supernatural sci-fi with lots of action.
