Meet Me In the Margins by Melissa Ferguson

Savannah is aggressively average. She works a low-level publishing job, never meets her step goal for the day, is writing a soon-to-be rejected manuscript for a romance novel, and can never compare to her exceedingly accomplished younger sister. But she takes solace in helping her aspiring country star best friend, and in the mysterious hidden room in her publishing building. One day, she leaves her manuscript in the room and returns to find much-needed edits scribbled in the margins. As the hidden editor continues their revision and she scribbles notes back, she finds herself falling faster and faster. But how will they make it work in real life?

This book, just as Savannah describes herself, is average and boring. It felt too meta, with the implication that Savannah was meant to be the author, and all the scenes felt too Hallmark-y. Plus, it didn’t feel like there was any chemistry between the main characters. I would give it two stars.
