Ever Wong is a high school senior who wants to dance despite her pre-planned path to becoming a doctor. When she gets off the waitlist and gets into Tisch, all Ever wants to do is get a scholarship and go there, even though it is against her parents’ wishes. However, her parents send her to Taipei to learn more about her culture, hindering her summer plans for a scholarship. When she learns that Chien Tan, her summer camp, isn’t what it seems and is actually Loveboat, a place where kids like her go to nightclubs and parties. She then decides to break all of the Wong rules that summer. Finally, she learns to embrace her heritage and achieve her dreams after finding and learning more about herself at Loveboat.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book while I read it. I loved reading about Ever and her friends and her crazy adventures at Loveboat.  I was also able to relate to her situation. Despite the many questionable things Ever did, I really liked the story and thoroughly enjoyed reading the book. This is a good read for those who like AAPI and teen romance novels.

Overall, I really liked this book and really related to it as an Asian American. I rate this a 5 out of 5.
