Lord of the Flies is a dystopian fiction novel where the characters are living in a nightmarish, tyrannical society as a result of their naturally poor personalities. This book is written by William Golding who tells the story of a group of young boys who find themselves alone on a deserted island without any adults present. They develop rules, but without any adults on the island to oversee them, the boys eventually become violent and savage-like. The main character in this book is a boy named Ralph, who is elected chief of the island at the beginning of the book. What does Ralph want to do? Ralph wants to get off the island and go back home so he instructs a group of boys to start and take care of the fire to ensure people can see that they are on the island. The thing standing in the way of Ralph and the other boys escaping the island is themselves. The longer they stay on the island the less civilized they become and the more savage-liked they are becoming. At the end of the book Ralph and some of the boys are saved and rescued but they aren't saved from being civilized and following the rules.

My opinion of this book is that it is a really good book and the novel continues to captivate readers with its exploration of the inherent savage instincts that lie within us humans. Lord of the Flies is a good book. It's a fascinating story, The complex characters' development throughout the book, The themes, and how the book relates to modern-day society are many reasons why I liked this book. I gave this book a 5-star rating as I enjoyed reading the book.
