The Little Prince is a short poetic novella about an aviator whose plane crashes in the desert. There he meets the child known as the little prince, whose miniature home planet is so small that in order to see a new sunset, he simply has to move his chair a few steps. On his planet lives a vain rose, whom he loves and is loved by, although she refuses to tell him and requires endless attention. He relates his tale of wandering through the universe in search of the meaning of love and life. On his journey, he meets many foolish adults, such as a businessman. The businessman believes he owns the stars because he was the first to think of claiming them, but the little prince believes this is pointless because the businessman wants to own them merely to possess them. Among others, both wise and foolish, he meets a fox who teaches him about relationships and a snake, who brings about his return to his beloved rose.

This short fairy tale layered with meaning is one of the most loved books throughout the world. It shows the foolishness of adults as seen through the eyes of a child, such as people who want to own things simply to possess them. It also shows that we often overlook the need for people who create beauty, even if it does not necessarily serve a practical purpose. This is shown through the aviator, who says he used to draw as a child, but was stifled in this by adults who told him to learn something useful like geography. The tale of the little prince is a beautiful and meaningful story meant to teach us about love through the innocent and naive lens of a child, and I would give it 5 stars.
