Legend by Marie Lu is the first book in the Legend series. Set in a dystopian future United States, Legend is told from two points of view: June, a government prodigy and Day, an infamous criminal. After Day supposedly kills June’s brother, she sets out to hunt him down. When their paths cross, June’s loyalties are called into question as she discovers Day may not be as bad as her superiors say.

I enjoyed this novel. Both POV characters are entertaining and likable and I didn’t favor one over the other. June and Day, along with the side characters, are distinct and compelling. The book was never boring, with well written action sequences and an enthralling mystery that keeps you hooked until the end. It is a little distracting that both of the main characters are 15, which makes some parts of the book unbelievable, but other than that the book is a good read.

I recommend this book for fans of action-packed dystopian fiction like The Hunger Games and Divergent. I rate it 4 stars.
