Set in a dystopian future, in a town of all men, Prentiss town a young teenage boy, Todd, and his dog, Manche lives in company. To him, he has no knowledge of women or even his mother. The women of the earth have been exiled for a long time according to Prentiss towns head guy in charge. In this world, everyone can hear each other's thoughts. They call it “Noise”. One day as Todd is doing his usual chores when suddenly he hears silence in the noise. He runs back to town to inform his caretakers and they tell him to leave immediately. While fleeting down he stumbles into the silence again. It's a girl. Todd does not know what to believe but he does know women do not have noise.

This book is a series; however, the books can be read individually. Personally, I read this book first and the second one but have not got around to the third. This book was one of the most detailed, plot twisting books I have ever read. I read this with my mom, and I definitely recommend you read this at the same time as someone. It helped us discuss and keep each other on the edge of our seats. If you are looking for some mystery, romance, suspense and even a little sadness this book is for you. I definitely think it is for mature readers but makes for a fantastic read. I especially loved the ending of this book. It was not expected. You can tell the author put a lot of time and effort into the plot. On the plus side there's a movie!
