Killer Kung Pao by Vivien Chien is a murder mystery novel. It takes place in Cleveland’s
Asia Village. Between working at the Ho-Lee Noodle House, her family’s restaurant, and trying
to manage a social life, Lana Lee is just a little exhausted. Unfortunately for her, things are about
to get even more tiring. One morning as Lana is at the hair salon, she witnesses something
sinister and a well-known member of the community winds up dead. Lana finds herself resisting
the urge to get involved in another investigation, but she ends up uncovering secrets and picking
up clues. This begs the question... are all the individuals of Asia Village the upstanding citizens
they claim to be?
I have kind of fallen in love with these books for two reasons. It gives me cozy, rainy day
reading vibes, and it talks about food. I love how the characters feel like people that I know, and
the interactions between them is hilarious! I definitely can’t wait to read more!
