Keeper of the Lost Cities, a New York Times bestseller from 2012, grabs readers on page one, and holds them completely through hundreds of pages. Sophie Foster is raised in a human family, but always feels she is “different.” When Sophie turns twelve, a mysterious boy named Fitz turns up, claiming she's an elf. Fitz sweeps Sophie away to the magical world of Lost Cities, where she meets elves and other surprising folk. Join Sophie as she attends her first year at Foxfire Academy, makes new friends but also enemies as she begins to understand who she really is, and who she can become.

As a high-schooler, I found myself drawn to this series even though I am absolutely not the targeted middle-school age! Keeper of the Lost Cities is the first installment of eleven books (so far) in a fantasy series. Each book weighs in at about 500-800 pages. I love big books, and if you do as well, this series will keep you turning the pages, and the story does not disappoint. Even when I'm reading at my quickest speed, I cannot finish one of these books in a single day! The final novel is set to be published in 2024 (fingers crossed). If you enjoy Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, or any other epic, fantastical stories, you will love Keeper of the Lost Cities!
