This book tells the true story of Joel Embiid, a boy from Cameroon who didn’t start playing basketball until he was 15 years old. He was inspired by a video of another African basketball player, Hakeem Olajuwon. Joel worked hard, moved to the United States and played college basketball at the University of Kansas. Life was not easy, he faced injuries, learned a new language and dealt with the loss of his younger brother. But he never gave up. He was chosen to play in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers. After more hard work and recovery, he became one of the best players in the league. Today, Joel is a role model who encourages others to work hard and believe in themselves.

This book is inspiring and easy to read, especially for kids who enjoy sports or real-life success stories. Joel Embiid’s journey teaches an important lesson even if you start late or face big problems, you can still reach your dreams with hard work and courage. His story also shows how important it is to stay strong during tough times and help others when you succeed. It’s a great book for school projects or just learning more about a true sports hero.
