Summary: Jesus Revolution is the account of what the 1970s were like in California during what is famously known as the “Jesus Movement”. The movie follows a young man named Greg Laurie and his life as a teenager. We also learn about a church called Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa with a pastor named Chuck Smith. The movie starts to take climb when Chuck Smith’s daughter introduces Chuck to Lonnie Frisbee who was a hippie. Lonnie Frisbee was a very strong believer in God and she wanted her dad and him to speak. Chuck gave Lonnie a chance to speak in his church, and from there, it all started. More and More people started to flood the church, so many people were getting saved. This is when Greg Laurie meets a girl and she actually brings him to these church services and events. Greg Laurie ends up getting saved and falling in love with this girl and in the future, they get married and he actually starts a church which today is called Harvest church. The “Jesus Movement” was one of the biggest Christian revivals in history and Jesus Revolution brought this event to life on the big screens.
Opinion: I would give this movie a 5 out of 5 stars for many different reasons. To start, I really liked how realistic the movie was. After watching Jesus Revolution I did some research of my own and it seems that the movie adequately portrayed the characters. Between the hippies, Lonnie Frisbee, and Greg Laurie they were all historically pretty accurate. I also really liked the story about Greg Laurie and getting to learn all about his life and his upbringing. Most of all I liked the message and getting to see the Christian lifestyle inside of the movie and how God was working in those times and seeing so many people be saved.
