Piper is the ultimate “It Girl”, with an exceedingly wealthy stepfather, a glamorous life in
Hollywood, and parties and boyfriends and Instagram followers galore. But after a breakup and
some bad decisions, she finds herself back in the small fishing town where she was born, forced
to completely take care of herself for the first time. And to make matters worse, a surly local
fisherman, Brendon, seems to hate her from first sight. But it’s a small place, and through
several encounters they begin to talk and get to know each other, and Piper finds herself
thinking and doing things she never would have imagined before.

I didn’t really love the narrative style of this book, but I think the story and buildup was
well done and that many others could enjoy it. I also thought the gender dynamics were a little
weird and traditional, with Brendon painted as a super masculine manly man who does all the
manly things and Piper as a clueless girl who needs rescuing and looks pretty. I would rate it
two out of five stars.
