The Inheritance Games is a book about a girl who loves chess and taking chances. Avery Kylie Grambs is a nobody in New Castle, Connecticut, working at a diner and living with her sister in law. One day, she finds out multi-billionaire Tobias Hawthorne has just passed, and Avery has been called to be present at the reading of his will. She finds out that Tobias has left her all of his fortune, house, and most belongings, and not his own family. The book takes you on a rollercoaster of puzzles and riddles as Avery- and the grandsons of Tobias- try to figure out why Avery was chosen and work through the game Tobias left behind. The series continues for two more books.

Personally, I absolutely love this book. I lent it from a friend, and I literally could not put it down. The suspense is so compelling, and the subplot of romance just makes it so much more interesting. Each book leaves you on a huge cliffhanger, leaving you waiting until you can read the next. The riddles and puzzles are so cleverly designed, and the way Avery tries to manage everything that happens is just crazy. I feel like the characters show a lot of emotion, and the way the author describes each action makes it so much more interesting to read, because you can just imagine it so easily.

I would easily give this book 5 stars, and totally recommend it to anyone who likes mystery books or even just suspense in general.
