If This Gets Out by Sophie Gonzales is a boy band romance that will capture heartstrings. Following the band, Saturday, throughout a tour we see two castmates fall in love and face challenges that come with being queer and being a teenager in the spotlight. Issues of coming out and discovering who you are is presented throughout the novel. Zach and Reuben face challenges from all around them and challenges in their own relationship. This read will show how strong love is and how it can defy rules and expectations.
While the novel is a very cute read and you can definitely root for the main character it is definitely predictable. It follows the formula of one boy who already knows his sexuality and one who is realizing he isn’t straight. While I would of have liked a different trope I think the book is very well written and I am reading it rooting for the couple. The whole cast of characters and the dynamic of the band helps contribute to it being a good read where you cheer for a happy ending.
