The Hunger Games is a story about a dystopian society of Panem, where two youngsters from each of the twelve districts participate in the Hunger Games. The players must kill each other and survive in the wilderness until only one remains. The story follows Katniss Everdeen, a sixteen year old girl who volunteers to participate in the games instead of her younger sister, Prim. The other tribute from District 12 is a boy named Peeta. Katniss lives in District 12 with her mother and sister. Every year Panem holds the annual Hunger Games. The games take 24 kids from the 12 districts, one boy and one girl between the age of 12 to 18 per district, and force them to participate in the Hunger Games where they fight to the death only one tribute will win. The chosen tributes are sent to the Capitol and get put in training before the games begin.

This dystopian thriller is very hard to put down and addicting to read. The suspense keeps it interesting and keeps me turning the page. The climax was especially interesting and was very entertaining. It is a great beginning to The Hunger Games series.
