The main character of The Hunger Games is Katniss Everdeen. Throughout this whole book Katniss has one goal; win The Hunger Games, a deadly human killing game. There is only one survivor. Every year 2 people from each district are sent. Katniss is from District 12. Katniss and Peeta Mellark will be competing against each other even though they come from the same district. Will Katniss bring glory to her District 12… Or die trying to do so?

Katniss and Peeta both have the same goal, and that is to win the hunger games without getting killed in the process of doing so. Katniss must find her own shelter, food, and water. She makes friends along the way, but is she allowed to trust them, and make sure they don’t find a place in her heart? Katniss doesn’t want to kill anyone, but she must try and defend herself as well. Katniss must take risks and team up with others, even if that means putting them in danger. Katniss also needs to please everyone that is watching the hunger games. Again, the only reason why she was here in the first place was just for others' self-enjoyment. But, even if Katniss makes it to the end, will problems arise? Will something happen that puts her and her family in more danger than ever before…?

This book is very impressive, awe-inspiring, and breathtaking. It has a lot of amazing features that sum up the book in a very good way. This book made me want to keep reading because of all the cliffhangers, and suspense that it had in it. One spot when my heart stopped was when Katniss volunteered to be a tribute. That is the moment I felt like I knew this was going to be an exciting and inspiring book. This book also shows some rebels after a certain incident happens that even leaves Katniss in shock. I was disappointed in some of the decisions that Katniss had made, but later realized those choices that she made were the honorable ones. I am going to be honest, the first and second chapters were very boring for me, but since she was selected for tribute, I knew this was going to transform the book for me completely. I would rate this book a four out of five stars because there were some parts that I didn’t like.
