How to Make Friends with the Dark follows Tiger, a teenage girl just trying to make it through high school when her mom tragically and suddenly dies. This book follows her journey of learning to grieve and cope with her mother's death while trying to maintain her relationships.
This has to be one of the saddest books I’ve ever read. Even though it’s a ya novel it doesn’t shy away from difficult topics and it discusses them so well. I had to stop reading several times just to fully understand what the author was saying. If you are looking for a beautiful but sad story about a high schooler this book is just that.
