“Was I starting to feel evil? Yes, now I was worrying I'd be turned to the dark side by too much crochet.”

When you’re living in a school that has it out for you, barely managing to pass your classes without getting lost in its giant moving staircases, or eaten by one of the many stray monsters lurking around, you’re always on edge. That’s on top of the ridiculous social hierarchy, with the occasional murder. Then again there’s a certain comfort in knowing you could burn the whole school to the ground with everyone inside. No that you would, just that you could. That is the everyday of one Galadriel Higgins. Welcome to the Schoolmance, the deadliest school in existence.

El is wrapping up her junior year and starting to realize her chances aren’t looking too good when the school hero takes an interest in her. Even if its just an interest because he’s convinced she’ll turn evil and kill everyone, at least she’s not so invisible anymore, even if she’d prefer to be. The wittiest book I’ve read in a while, I loved this book because El is the most accurately written teenager character I’ve seen in quite some time. Petty and rude, she dislikes people in general, and has a present mother figure, (something fairly uncommon in most teen protagonists), whom she loves, and does her best to make proud. A very fun read, five out of five Stars.
